Overview:
Azatel was founded due to the reality that VoIP (Voice over IP) had yet to become mainstream.Β There was a need in the market to enable communications to be "mobile" where the end user was not tethered to "location" specific by major telecom providers.
The 1st focus was to develop a Analogue Terminal Adapter (ATA) which would connect to a carriers central switch over the Internet using Internet Protocol (IP) to send & receive communications.

During this time, there was H.323 (protocol) which was great for point to point but provided no mobility/flexibility for self provisioning/hands off approach from the Carrier to provide communication services.
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) was in its infancy, there was no ratified standard only drafts in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) therefore our development was bleeding edge as we worked to develop these standards and implement them as per our emerging industry.
